Weapon Station “NK”

The weapon station «NK» is designed to combat armored and unarmored, ground and low-flying low-speed targets. The weapon station is equipped with remote weapon system on a platform stabilized in two planes, as well as an optical-electronic sighting system with a thermal imaging channel.

Allows to solve a wide range of offensive and defensive combat missions, during the day and night time in different road and climate environments.

Operation of weapon station as part of a combat vehicle is carried out by the operator and commander (The commander has duplicate controls).

Reloading weapons, tightening the tape and switching the supply of cartridges is carried out by operator from the middle combat module.

COMPOSITION OF THE COMBAT MODULE

1. Turret with weapons consisting of:

  • 30 mm automatic gun — ZTM-1 (2A72), ammunition 290 missiles (cartridges are ready to fire); 
  • 7.62 mm PKT machine gun, 1400 rounds (350 rounds in the store ready to fire); 
  • 30 mm automatic grenade launcher KBA-117 (AGS-17), 116 grenades (29 grenades in the store are ready to fire); 
  • Anti-tank missile system “Barrier”, 2 launchers, 4 anti- tank missiles (2 anti-tank missiles on guides, ready for launch); 
  • Smoke screen extraction system — 902B «Tucha» (6 launchers, three per each side of the weapon station). 

2. Fire control system HORIZON (FCS) consisting of:

  • Operator panel; 
  • Commander’s console; 
  • Control unit BUM; 
  • Optical-electronic module OEM-VM; 
  • Operator`s video monitor; 
  • Commander`s video monitor. 

Fire control system «HORIZON» provides:

  • observation of targets and surroundings in day and night conditions;
  • target detection using television cameras VTK and SHTK optical-electronic module (OEM-VM);
  • forming an image of the detected targets and the environment on the video monitors of the operator and commander;
  • measuring the distance to the target using a laser rangefinder (LR);
  • forming and display of the target sighting mark on video monitors of the commander and operator;
  • automatic detection of aiming angles for the selected weapon;
  • fire control of weapons of the selected type (including ATGM «Barrier»);
  • formation and display of the aiming mark for the selected type of weapon on video monitors of the commander and operator;
  • depending on the distance to the target;
  • formation and display of service alphanumeric information on video monitors;
  • display on video monitors the numerical value of the aiming angle when firing a grenade launcher at an invisible target, depending on the entered distance value of the target;
  • switching the voltage of the on-board network +27 V to the units and devices of armored personnel carrier;
  • control of the mechanisms of the gun during loading;
  • selection of the type of gun cartridges (armor-piercing tracer or high-explosive fragmentation-incendiary) and firing mode (queue-single) for gun and grenade launcher;
  • memorizing the set amount of ammunition for the gun and grenade launcher i automatic counting of the remainder when firing;
  • control of 6 launchers of the smokescreen extraction system;
  • automatic control of product equipment.

3. Weapon stabilizer consists of:

  • Stabilizer control unit SVU-500-7TC; 
  • Electric motors EDM-600;
  • Coriolis vibrating gyroscopes;
  • Power circuit;
  • Operator’s and commander’s control panel (joypads). 

The SVU-500-7TC stabilizer belongs to the latest generaJon and is disJnguished by the modes of operaJon in digital form. 

The adjustment of the stabilizer parameters is carried out by the operator directly from the firing control panel without manipulating the regulating elements on the control units. A Coriolis vibrating gyroscope (CVG) is used as a sensitive element in the stabilizer. Its principle of operation is based on the inertial properties of elastic waves that arise in resonators at sound frequencies. Due to the angular velocity sensor, the technical characteristics of the weapon stabilizer have been significantly improved, in particular in terms of aiming and firing stability, as well as guidance speed.

The table below shows the characteristics of the new stabilizer SVU-500-7TC in comparison with the stabilizer of the old generation SVU-500-3TC, which is widely used on samples, adopted for service in the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Ballistic stability of the combat module provides protection of 3 levels of DSTU-P STANAG 4569:2017:

  • Frontal projection of the combat module from armor-piercing bullets B-32 caliber 12.7 — 108 mm., with firing range 100m;
  • Lateral projection (board) of the case from armor-piercing bullets B-32 caliber 7.62 x 54 mm., from a range of 100 m;
